Funding round, led by RedBird Capital Partners, will support Build A Rocket Boy’s commercialization as it launches its immersive gaming platform EVERYWHERE™ and AAA game MindsEye™

Build A Rocket Boy, a leading independent gaming and entertainment company, has today announced that it has closed on an over $110 million Series D fundraising round. The new capital will enable Build A Rocket Boy to launch its three flagship products: immersive gaming and entertainment open world platform EVERYWHERE, AAA game series MindsEye, and suite of easy-to-use UGC design tools called ARCADIA. The Company is led by video game industry veteran Leslie Benzies. Build A Rocket Boy plans to launch the highly anticipated EVERYWHERE and the first episode of MindsEye in the near future. 

The round was led by RedBird Capital Partners, a private investment firm with an extensive track record investing in the media & entertainment, sports and experiential consumer ecosystems. Julia Wittlin, a Partner at RedBird Capital, will join Build A Rocket Boy’s board of directors. The financing round also had strong support from existing and new investors, including Galaxy Interactive, NetEase Games, Endeavor, Alignment Growth, Woodline Partners LP, GTAM Partners, and others.

Build A Rocket Boy, has today released the official reveal trailer for EVERYWHERE and announced that it will begin Closed Alpha testing soon.

Players can sign up for an account now at  EVERYWHERE.GAME to reserve their username and apply for the opportunity to be among the first to play.

The official reveal trailer provides a first look at gameplay footage and shows the scale and variety of what is possible within EVERYWHERE, where players can participate in almost infinite activities  – or create their own.

EVERYWHERE is a place where you can unleash your imagination and see your creations come to life.

With ARCADIA – our free, easy-to-use design tool and system – you can build almost anything you can imagine with no code required including games, levels, activities, events, or even your own world.

With gaming at the heart of EVERYWHERE, competition can be found in iconic game modes where skills will be put to the test on the racetrack and in combat. As players explore the vast biomes, there are many secrets to discover and portals to be found that lead to other worlds and experiences.

EVERYWHERE is just getting started, and together there is no telling what players and builders will create alongside the development team at Build A Rocket Boy. Closed Alpha testing will start soon and invited players will be the first to begin shaping this world.

Closed Alpha will be a limited technical test on PC, by invitation only, designed to test the systems and get early feedback from players. Build A Rocket Boy will be doing further testing programmes in the future, so please keep an eye out for developments and upcoming opportunities to get involved.

Announcing MindsEye™

Our talented team here at Build A Rocket Boy is ever expanding with the needs of our first project Everywhere, and with that comes the need for more space to grow.

We are excited to announce that in 2023 we will be opening an office in Montpellier. 

“I am thrilled to have these fantastic industry veterans heading up our Montpellier studio,” said Everywhere Game Director, Leslie Benzies. “The talent in the Montpellier area that has been joining us over the past year has taken Everywhere to a whole new level. Putting down roots and opening an office in France will dramatically expand our footprint and is the next natural step in Build A Rocket Boy’s evolution.” 

We are looking to the future of BARB and having this talent centre for developers based in France will be key to the continued growth and development of the company.

Former Crytek Hungary studio head, Kristoffer Waardahl, and a group of veteran developers are joining Leslie Benzies’ startup to create ‘Everywhere’. The team draws from a wealth of experience developing AAA titles as well as mobile and VR gaming. The new studio is opening in Budapest, Hungary. 

“We are very excited to be working alongside such talented individuals who bring with them a wealth of experience as we build Everywhere.” says Benzies.

Budapest Office Opens

Our office, nestled in the iconic Leith area of the city, well known for its beautiful shore and home to many businesses, bars and restaurants – is a vibrant and bustling part of the picturesque Scottish capital.

Situated in the former Leith Corn Exchange and originally built in 1861 as an open market hall. At the time Leith was the hub of the grain trade in Scotland and this building was at its epicentre.

We have recently completed renovations turning it into a modern games studio, beautifully lit by natural sunlight and providing an open, airy space - allowing our ever expanding team to openly collaborate as we embark on our maiden project – EVERYWHERE.
